HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine was in Harrison County on Friday, where he announced a $9.1 million in grant funds have been awarded to the county to assist with the construction of a new jail.

“Because of the age, it just creates some real, real problems, and frankly, the rules and the regulations the federal court decisions that exist today are fundamentally different than they were when most of these jails were built,” DeWine said.

The total cost of the new facility expected to be around $12.5 million and will include 60 beds along with a variety of other services.
