BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. — The Sullivan County Commission approved receiving grant money designed to help train jail inmates to perform jobs after they are released.
The commission voted 20-0 with four absent to accept an East Tennessee State University Correctional Pathways Group grant and appropriate the funds.
The program, supported by Sheriff Jeff Cassidy at the meeting Thursday evening, seeks to train inmates to take jobs after they leave jail and pay the jail $50,000 to administer it at no cost to the county.
